Some obsessions take decades to name. For Roy Banse, it was always the Porsche 911 - its philosophy, its purity, the visceral connection between driver and machine. After years of owning, modifying, tracking and road-tripping a succession of 911s, his aha moment arrived: the greatest chapter in the 911 story was written in air.

The air-cooled era ended in 1998 with the 993 - the most refined expression of Ferdinand Porsche’s original vision and widely celebrated as the ultimate analog driver’s car. Roy set out to find his unicorn. After an exhaustive search, he unearthed a 1997 Turbo that lived a full life at the track and on the road and ready for its next incarnation.

The car would become Supergeil’s foundation. Roy approached the build as a driver and a designer, pouring over every detail to create a machine equally at home carving canyon roads, turning laps at the track or disappearing on a coastal road trip.

The founder of Fluid Living Studio, an interior and architectural design practice known for its meticulous, highly considered work, Roy brings two decades of exacting craftsmanship to every Supergeil commission. What began as a deeply personal build became something larger. In 2024, Supergeil was born.

The obsession finally has a name. SUPERGEIL (pronounced super guy-el) is a German colloquial expression for unbridled enthusiasm - something so excellent or so incredibly cool - that it exceeds ordinary description. It’s what you say when a flat-six spins to redline through a canyon pass. It’s what our cars are.
